Teaching Procedures:
Step 1: Warm-up (5 minutes)
Start the class by greeting the students with a cheerful tone. Ask them to respond with “Hello” or “Hi”. Play a short audio clip of a friendly conversation to get them used to the sounds of English.
Step 2: Introduction of Greetings (10 minutes)
Introduce the common greetings such as “Hello”, “Hi”, “Good morning”, and “Good afternoon”. Show flashcards with these words and have students repeat after you. Practice pronunciation together.
Step 3: Introducing Oneself (15 minutes)
Explain how to introduce oneself using the structure: “My name is...” and “I am...”. Model the sentences and invite students to practice in pairs. For example:
- Student A: “My name is Lily.”
- Student B: “Nice to meet you, Lily.”
Step 4: Listening Practice (10 minutes)
Play an audio dialogue between two students introducing themselves. Ask students to listen and answer questions like:
- What is the girl’s name?
- How old is she?
Step 5: Group Activity (10 minutes)
Divide the class into small groups. Each student introduces themselves to the group members. Afterward, each group reports one member’s name and age to the class.
Step 6: Summary and Homework (5 minutes)
Review the key points of the lesson. Assign homework: write a short paragraph introducing yourself in English. Encourage students to practice speaking with family members at home.
Assessment:
Observe students during activities to check their understanding and participation. Provide positive feedback and correct any mistakes gently.
Reflection:
